eat or no eat before run

i was told in the am run and it will burn the actual fat off. but then i hurt if you dont eat something in the am then when you run your body will eat of your muscle. so im really kind of lost here.
I don't think there is any right answer here. I do cardio after I train as the way I figure it, my stomach is pretty damn empty after I lift for an hour or so. I HATE to get up and not get my protein in me right away so I don't subscribe to that school of thought as maintaining my lean muscle mass is really important to me. I do it this way and get the best of both worlds as far as cutting but keeping my muscle mass goes.
It's said running on an empty stomach when you wake up is better because your blood glucose levels are lowest and your body is most inclined to use fat as an energy source among other things, for me personally (I do all kinds of cardio) would say that consistency is the most important thing.. I suppose the science behind it is good also but I run on an empty stomach in the morning because its easier to squeeze a lower calorie diet into a really really long day on my work days. Either way though adding cardio will use muscle and fat for energy just how much of each will differ on the type of cardio and state of your body and nutrition.
never eat right before cardio

yes starved state cardio in the morning works. thats when i do my cardio

if i cant get around to it in the morning i'll do it in the evening about 2 hours after i've eaten anything
I don't think it matters.
It depends on the intensity of the run.  If it's fairly low intensity and you can handle it without feeling dizzy or nauseous then it should be fine (though I doubt it will make a difference in actual fat loss versus non-fasted cardio, but I could be wrong -- you'll have to find that out for yourself as everyone is different).  On the other hand if the run is even semi-intense enough that it becomes that you cannot perform 100% BECAUSE of your lack of food I suggest eating some carbs and then go for the run in an hour or so.
